And who were you?

This is a poem about the darker aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

This is part one in the series. It reflects on the relationship between the new world on the Great Sea and the old suspended world of Hyrule, as well as the decision taken by the Sages in the long past...

In part two, "Indeed we cry!", the Sages/gods give a reply...

_{For the benefit of those who do not know the story of the Wind Waker:
The game takes place on a vast ocean with many small islands scattered across it. Much later in the game you discover that Hyrule lies deep beneath the sea, and the islands on the Great Sea are just the peaks of great mountains of the drowned land below. When the Sages saw no other way to save the land, they asked the gods to bury it forever beneath the waves...}
